Riad Salam fes

Oh my. What a beautiful Riad. So comfortable, so luxurious and charming helpful staff. The toiletries on offer are sublime, the facilities just so perfect. Grab a thesauruses, look up stupendous and that’s the Riad Salam. A super large comfortable clean bed. A gorgeous pool and the breakfast, well look at the pictures. 100% recommend.

Amazing architecture and decoration, really beautiful riad ! But I have to evaluate the staff and highlight the very bad service I received on the rooftop by the waiters. More than 30 minutes to wait for a bottle of water, with several polite reminders. No excuse, not professional. Again really nice place, trained people will be great to receive great service, just saying Tried to explain the situation at the reception but no reaction, just a thank you, bye.

One of the most beautiful and authentic places I have ever stayed. This riad has gorgeous mosaics throughout as well as on-site massage and hammam. The staff are essentially the family who own it, and are so intensely focused on making guests welcome. My only regrets were the unavoidably cold weather, and having to leave!

Gosh! What a fantastic experience! Exemplary customer service and pure Moroccan style Riad! The best experience we had during our entire Morocco trip was at this place. A must must place to stay if you are in Fes! Will definitely stay here again whenever i visit Morocco.

The architecture and design of the Riyadh is fantastic. Rooms are comfortable and very original. Lovely receptionist, very helpful. We were there on a new year: the dinner was good specially the starters I loved, not so much the main dish. Breakfast not good, they only serve sorts of jams no cheese no nothing else. Only bad experience was Spa. I don't recommend massage, no privacy, cold room, noisy and not very clean.

The hotel itself is beautiful and it has very nice dining. It is centrally located and within walking distance to tourist attractions. The problem is the staff. On the surface, they are polite but underneath is a deep desire to fleece you and a willingness to step over each other for tips. We booked a local tour guide from the concierge. Big mistake. Do not do this. The man who became our guide was a fraud who took us to specific vendors with marked up prices despite what we asked him for. We learned little about the city and after half the agreed upon time - when we had made it clear we weren't falling for the scheme - he asked for the full amount, a tip, and taxi fare. Not likely. He told us most of the markets were closed for the season. After disposing of him, we went back and found that the markets were just opening at that time of day. We went back to one of those shops and bought a carpet at half the cost (without his commission). When we told the concierge, she appeared to be shocked. However, on our "guide", this man was known to every merchant we passed. I cannot believe the concierge did not know what was going to happen so she wasted our time and money during a holiday that was already stressful thanks to constant harassment from the local population. Tip: do not go to Morocco in the off-season as a tourist or you will be targeted by frauds, schemers, and dangerous people and preyed upon by surface-level-nice hotel staff. Lovely country but an undercurrent of resentment in some of the population.

We spent two nights here on a group tour. We left the hotel for an hour on the second night, and when we returned, we were surprised that the room safe wouldn’t open using the code we had set. The front desk sent someone to open it under our supervision. We then found that $860 USD that we had brought for tour gratuities and general use had been stolen from our money belt in the safe, with a small amount of cash left and both zippers reclosed, which we speculate— along with relocking the safe — was intended to keep us from noticing immediately. The hotel manager said that nobody could have entered, but had no security camera or electronic safe records to review. There wasn’t much we could do since we were leaving early the next morning and weren’t likely to get the money back regardless. The only other time the belt was out of our possession was the night before, when we were at a group dinner in the courtyard for a hour, when the belt was in our locked room but not in the safe. The hotel was fantastic otherwise, except that the shower had no hot water either day.

This hotel is amazing! We ate dinner and breakfast next to the beautiful swimming pool, and the food is also fantastic. I think the most interesting part is it’s history and hand crafted building. Ayoub is very nice and cool. He guided us to the terrace and told us the history of this building and the city! Thank you Ayoub
